Dog Kennel Tour

Hey everyone! Like I've said, we've got a few projects up our sleeves and this is one of them! Please keep in mind that Zoey is my little fur child, she is only in this kennel when I am at work if it is a cool enough day. It helps save me money instead of paying for daycare every day.

So the first thing we did was go to Menard's and by a dog kennel. I couldn't tell you exact measurements but it's the perfect size for Zoey.

Jerry then built what we call 'The Doggie Deck'. We used metal sheets, I can't think of exactly what they are called though, to anchor the kennel down.

Zoey likes to chew (hence her needing an outdoor kennel) and just to make me feel a little more comfortable Jerry installed hog panel around the bottom sides of the kennel in case she decides to keep that bad habit,

The kennel came with a thin screening to go on top but that wouldn't protect her from the sun so we put up some tin roofing on the other half to give her shade in the afternoon.

We painted The Doggie Deck, added some black mats that we screwed down into place and added a few perennials to the side.

We drilled a few holes in the mat as well for extra drainage in case is rains. We also lifted one side up on an angle with bricks that we then covered (temporarily) with landscape timbers.

Jerry built me this great dog house! And then helped me paint it. He added a flap to prevent the rain from getting into her kennel.

And he added a side door for me!

This allows me access in case I ever need to get into her dog house for toys, bedding, or any messes that may accumulate in there.

Zoey LOVES her kennel, here's a picture of her hanging out in her dog house.

I hope everyone likes the kennel as much as us three.

Thanks for stopping by!

ps. I forgot to mention, when she is in her kennel we use a lock and key pad to prevent her or anyone from getting in and/or out.
